| Bullivants’ Commitment to Safety, Environment, Quality & Technical Leadership |
Bullivants maintains corporate membership to five major
Australian / International standards which help us to achieve and maintain ongoing compliance to state regulations, continuously improve our business
processes and lead best practices, which are unequalled in our industry. |
| The main standards are as follows: |
- AS4801 Australian Standard for Occupational Health and
Safety Management systems
- ISO9001 International Standard for Quality Managements systems
- ISO14001 International Standard for Environmental Management Systems
- ISO17025 International Standard for General Requirements for the Competence of Testing &
Calibration of Laboratories
- ISO17020 International Standard for General Criteria for Operation
of various types of bodies performing inspection
|
The philosophy behind corporate membership means no matter which
Branch our Customers or Suppliers are dealing with (or combinations
thereof), the infrastructure is always the same. Therefore, a product /
service can be ordered from different sites and customers can feel
confident of receiving the same goods/services to the same quality
and standards irrespective of which site they deal with. |
| Third Party Audits |
 |
To ensure impartiality and that Bullivants maintain a system that is premised on best practices and in keeping with safe work practice, Bullivants utilise external third party auditors to verify and ensure compliance with standards is being maintained. The three principal bodies utilised are British Standards International (BSI), NATA and DNV. Currently BSI reviews our systems from an OH&S, environment and quality and DNV and NATA review compliance to the technical standards. |
| ISO9001 Overview |
 |
To be accredited to quality in each state or territory, each
respective Branch must show conformance to the ISO9001.
Quality reviews do not embody any regulations directly; instead
they review management systems for continuity and effectiveness
in the aim of providing quality products/services on a consistent basis. ISO9001 is the foundation for all other regimes to build upon, as companies with good Quality Assurance (QA) systems, help facilitate the ‘dovetailing’ of other elements (such as OH&S) into an already tried and proven backbone or system. Developing such a systematic approach can streamline the process of adding other elements if viewed holistically rather than as separate entities. This is one of the major advantages of dealing with Bullivants. Not only do Bullivants have a healthy and robust QA system but the OH&S and laboratory accreditation systems are totally integrated, providing a seamless entity that ensures all aspects are viewed holistically. Compliance to the QA standard is determined through several different phases which encompass a multi-level approach from consultation with the employees, local management reviews, head office reviews and independent reviews from third parties, such as BSI. |
| AS 4801 Overview |
 |
To achieve OH&S accreditation to AS 4801 each respective Branch is required to display conformity to their state or territory OH&S Act and Regulation, company policies and procedures. The compliance to the OH&S is determined through the same multi-level approach of local management reviews, head office reviews and independent reviews from third parties, such as BSI. |
| ISO14001 Overview |
 |
As part of Bullivants commitment to employees, the community and environment, we have achieved compliance to the international standard for Environmental Management, ISO14001. By leading the way and being proactive in achieving compliance to ISO14001, Bullivants sends a clear message to the market place that we are not only safety conscious, we are environmentally conscious as well. |
| ISO17020 & ISO17025 and DNV Overview |
 |
In order to achieve compliance to the International Standards for Inspection and Testing (ISO17020, ISO17025 and DNV 2.7.1), Bullivants must undergo a strict external review process conducted by NATA and DNV. The compliance varies mainly due to the ‘scope’ of accreditation sought. For Bullivants sites where inspection, mechanical or non-destructive testing (NDT) is conducted, the site(s) are evaluated against the base international standards ISO17020 & ISO17025 and other specific Australian Standards. |
Therefore, to obtain and maintain our technical accreditation, each Branch must demonstrate compliance to the appropriate standards that are included in their inspection and test scope. This is where the main difference becomes evident, as each Branch is required to nominate specific personnel to be reviewed for compliance to specific standards. These nominees or Authorised Signatories are tested on both the physical aspects of inspecting and testing equipment, in addition to their familiarity with the standards themselves by a NATA Representative and a Technical Assessor related to the field under review. If accepted as a signatory, only then are Technical Staff deemed competent to inspect and test products in accordance with specific standards/procedures. Even thought the bias is on technical competence of the personnel involved, it is still premised on the Branch maintaining a healthy management system as per ISO9001.
